Parish Caretaker  

Ruskington Parish Council is seeking a Parish Caretaker to join its small, dedicated team responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive village environment. The post is 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working alongside the Council’s existing caretakers. 

Some overtime may be required, including occasional evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. 

We are looking for someone who is motivated, competent, and committed to 

helping maintain and enhance the village’s appearance. Good communication 

skills and a full UK driving licence are essential. 

Main Duties: 

  • Litter picking and removing dog fouling around the village centre, green spaces, and play areas 
  • Cleaning street furniture 
  • Completing work reports 
  • Grass mowing and strimming 
  • Hedge trimming, planting, watering, and weeding 
  • Painting and general DIY/minor repairs 
  • Cleaning and replenishing the pavilion and changing rooms 
  • Carrying out playground inspections, as directed 

All relevant training, uniform clothing, and personal protective equipment will be provided.

 

Pay and Conditions: 

£13.26 per hour, rising to £13.47 per hour after a six‑month probation period. 

• Full‑time equivalent salary range: £25,583 – £25,986 per annum (pro rota). (The actual salary figures for FY 2026–27 are awaited.)
