A sunny grassy field dotted with a few trees and charming houses in the background, creating a peaceful rural scene.

We are thrilled to announce that Ruskington Parish Council has successfully secured five free fruit trees from North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) as part of the Coronation Living Heritage Fund.

These trees were planted yesterday by our dedicated environment caretaker in Elmtree playing field, creating a delightful mini orchard for our community to enjoy.

The new orchard includes three apple trees (Cox's Orange Pippin, James Grieve, and Newton Wonder varieties), a Conference pear tree, and a Czar plum bush. This diverse selection promises a wonderful array of fruits for everyone to enjoy.

The Coronation Living Heritage Fund aims to establish community orchards across North Kesteven, providing free fruit trees to various groups, including parish councils, schools, and community associations. Our application was successful, and we have received a mix of fruit trees, including Lincolnshire Heritage varieties, along with stakes, ties, and tree protection.

This initiative not only enhances the beauty of our local area but also promotes community engagement and access to fresh fruit. We look forward to seeing the orchard flourish and become a cherished part of our village.

Stay tuned for more updates on the growth and development of the trees. We encourage all residents to get involved and help us nurture this wonderful addition to our community.
