Honouring service and sacrifice in our village

Ruskington Parish Council is proud to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a display of  decorations and flying the Union flag at the Parish Office on High Street North.

The decorations pay tribute to the courage and resilience shown by so many during the Second World War. They serve as a visible reminder of the peace secured in Europe on 8 May 1945, and the lasting impact it had on communities like ours.

In addition, the Council has installed RBLI Remembrance Tommy Lamp Post Signs around the village. These distinctive silhouettes honour members of the armed forces and their families, past and present. They symbolise the sacrifice made by millions for the freedoms we enjoy today.

These displays are part of a national effort to remember and reflect. They also offer residents a moment to pause and recognise those from Ruskington who served during wartime.

We encourage you to take time during your walks or travels around the village to view the displays. The Parish Council thanks all residents who continue to support remembrance in our community.

Have you spotted a Tommy or visited the office display?
Let us know what remembrance means to you.
