Thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual Parish Meeting on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
While attendance was a little lower than usual (thanks to the heat, half term and a looming thunderstorm!), it was still a really positive and informative evening for the village.
Before the meeting started, we were pleased to welcome a range of local groups and organisations who set up displays and chatted with residents. This included our Library, Ruskington Community Church, Meadow Wellbeing Hub, Witham Archaeology, the Veterans’ Group and our hosts at the Methodist Church. It created a great atmosphere and gave everyone a chance to connect and share what’s happening in the village.
Key highlights from the presentations
We heard from a number of speakers who shared updates and plans that affect Ruskington:
-
A Conservation Officer from North Kesteven District Council gave encouraging feedback on our progress towards achieving Conservation Area status.
-
The Lincolnshire Flood Resilience Team spoke about being prepared for flooding and praised the work already done on our Emergency Plan.
-
There’s also an offer to carry out a local “desktop” emergency exercise to help test the plan and keep us prepared.
-
The Parish Council shared a summary of recent work, achievements and future plans.
-
The Leader of NKDC rounded things off with an update on wider district issues and challenges.
A big thank you
We’d like to say a special thank you to the Methodist Church (and Becky in particular) for hosting the event and supporting the evening so well. Thanks also to the Co-op for providing refreshments.
